Google Sheets can now build dashboards from a prompt

Google has added a feature called Sheets canvas. You describe what you want in plain language, and Gemini builds an interactive view on top of your spreadsheet: a dashboard, a project board, a card layout.

The interesting part is that it's two-way. Edit something in the canvas and the spreadsheet updates; edit the spreadsheet and the canvas follows.

Who gets it

Google says it's rolling out to Workspace customers on Business and Enterprise Standard and Plus plans, and to Google AI Pro for Education subscribers. It's English-only for now.

If you're a Microsoft 365 practice

Copilot in Excel is heading in the same direction. Either way, the question to ask before the team starts feeding project data into an AI feature is where that data goes and whether it's covered by your tenant's data protection settings. We can check that for you before anyone switches it on.
