What would happen if the only person who understands your IT was unavailable for a month?
In most small practices that's a director or the office manager, and the knowledge in their head includes who the providers are, where the documentation is kept, which systems are critical, when contracts renew and how to regain access to important systems in an emergency.
Write it down, then test it
- Document the providers, contacts, renewal dates and the emergency recovery steps.
- Store emergency access securely in a password vault with a break-glass process, rather than sharing passwords.
- Choose a backup person and ask them to handle one routine IT request using only the documentation available to them. Where they get stuck is where the gaps are.
If your business depends on one person for every IT decision, we can help document the responsibilities and put a backup plan in place. Often that person is relieved to share the load.
